Assistance With Immigration Special Programs

The complexity of immigration law is a problem for people in many walks of life. However, the needs of visas and deportation defense are only one wing of the services many people need. There are a host of special programs for people in the U.S. with immigration law worries.

At Dubrule & Nowel, PLLC, we have years of experience as special programs attorneys in Tampa. As your immigration lawyers, we’ll look at your specific situation with an experienced eye and attention to detail. We’ll listen to your concerns and offer realistic, innovative advice on the paths available through the special programs of the U.S. immigration law.

Understanding Special Immigration Programs

Special immigration programs largely focus on temporary relief from deportation. Some of the most famous programs that you may see are temporary programs, such as:

  • DACA: Deferred action for childhood arrivals is a popular, well-known program for people brought to the U.S. as children but who otherwise have no legal status here. This program is constantly under threat of termination, and its recipients are often in need of legal support.
  • TPS: Temporary protected status is granted to people from certain countries as designated by the Department of Homeland Security, based on the conditions in those countries, such as environmental disasters, civil wars, or other “extraordinary conditions.”
  • Parole: The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) can offer parole to people who may not have other means to enter the U.S. for a temporary period. There are programs available for certain groups, but mostly parole is offered for urgent humanitarian reasons or due to having a family member in the U.S. military.

To be clear, the above are temporary programs, may require renewal, and carry a risk of termination. These are not amnesty programs and do not offer a pathway to citizenship. However, they are great ways to remain in the U.S.

Who Should Consider Special Immigration Programs

You may not know if you are eligible or even potentially eligible for pursuing some of these options, and that’s a common problem in immigration law. Our clients are often uncertain of their potential choices or even consider that they have any. However, you may benefit from such programs if:

  • You were brought to the U.S. as a child and have been here since before age 16
  • You’re a national of a country currently designated for TPS
  • You fled your country due to natural disaster, armed conflict, or extraordinary conditions
  • You’re a crime victim who cooperated with law enforcement
  • You’re a victim of human trafficking
  • You have a qualifying relative who is a U.S. citizen or permanent resident and you need temporary protection while pursuing permanent options
  • You’re facing deportation and need to explore all possible relief options
  • You have aging-out children who need protection
  • You’re in the U.S. on expired status but have compelling humanitarian reasons to remain

We are happy to speak with you about your options and provide you with insight into the processes ahead.
